Are wired security cameras better than wireless?

Neither is "better" than the other—they're just different! The main difference between a wired and a wireless security camera is that a wired camera has a constant power source, whereas a wireless camera runs on a battery that needs to be charged intermittently. If you don't want your home security interrupted to charge your camera, we recommend Roku Outdoor Wired Camera. Just keep in mind you'll need to have an outdoor power outlet within 12 feet of wherever you decide to place your camera.

Do wired security cameras need Wi-Fi™?

A Wi-Fi® connection is needed to operate all Roku Smart Home devices. Roku Smart Home devices operate on a 2.4GHz network, so if you have both a 5GHz and 2.4GHz connection, make sure to connect to your 2.4GHz network during setup.
