Frequently Asked Questions
Are wired security cameras better than wireless?
Are wired security cameras better than wireless?
Neither is "better" than the other—they're just different! The main difference between a wired and a wireless security camera is that a wired camera has a constant power source, whereas a wireless camera runs on a battery that needs to be charged intermittently. If you don't want your home security interrupted to charge your camera, we recommend Roku Outdoor Wired Camera. Just keep in mind you'll need to have an outdoor power outlet within 12 feet of wherever you decide to place your camera.
Do wired security cameras need Wi-Fi™?
Do wired security cameras need Wi-Fi™?
A Wi-Fi® connection is needed to operate all Roku Smart Home devices. Roku Smart Home devices operate on a 2.4GHz network, so if you have both a 5GHz and 2.4GHz connection, make sure to connect to your 2.4GHz network during setup.

Easy installation and use!
I am so impressed by the clarity of this camera. If you can see the picture where I have the white circle and X that’s how far my gate is from my place. It is very far so I can never hear or see packages coming. Installation was so easy it took me literally 27 minutes. The cord being long was so good for what I needed and the weatherproof cords make it look like it’ll last forever.

Roku outdoor camera
Absolutely love this Roku outdoor surveillance camera. The pictures is amazing and I love how you can see it on your phone as well as your Roku TV and all the features that comes with it. I already have two and I'm going to buy a lot more. 10 out of 10 👏🏼

Outdoor Camera
It’s the best camera that I have used. The picture is so clear, and it does what I choose, I have pets an it does not alert me at all because I chose the option to not pick them up. The night time view is the best ever. Rocky is the best ever

• You want a decent, affordable outdoor wired camera and are okay with subscribing for advanced features.
• You have a fixed outdoor location with power and aren’t looking for battery flexibility.
• Maybe skip or consider alternatives if:
• You’re looking for best-in-class image quality, minimal subscription lock-in, and top motion/person detection.
• You want a battery-powered outdoor camera or fully wire-free setup.
• You don’t use Roku devices and/or don’t care about viewing on your TV. -

Great quality outdoor camera
We love the brand Roku. It has become a brand my husband trust. This outdoor camera has a great camera that takes quality pics and videos. We placed it on the back deck to watch anyone messing around our house. Definitely worth the money.

Nice entry level camera!
These weather resistant cameras are a breeze to set up and view from a Roku tv. The video quality is decent, but I’ve got better cameras installed already. I may hang this one permanently in my garage so I can double check the door is shut. Good camera for the price!

Super easy setup
This camera was super easy to install and setup. I love that it tells me if it is a person or a pet that walks in the camera view! The video quality is excellent! And I really like that you can speak through the camera. Love that it gives you a two week trial subscription to really see if you like it!
