The main difference between Roku Streaming Stick 4K, Roku Streaming Stick Plus (4K), and Roku Streaming Stick (HD) is in their video quality and performance. Roku Streaming Stick is our entry-level option, perfect for TVs that don't support 4K, offering clear HD picture quality. Roku Streaming Stick Plus steps it up with brilliant 4K picture and vivid HDR colour. Our top-of-the-line Roku Streaming Stick 4K delivers stunningly sharp 4K picture and lifelike clarity with Dolby Vision® and HDR10+. It comes along with a long-range Wi-Fi® receiver for seamless streaming even in rooms farther from your router. All Streaming Stick models come with a handy Roku voice remote for easy control. Roku Streaming Stick (HD) vs Roku Express - what’s the difference?
The main difference between Roku Streaming Stick (HD) and Roku Express is that Roku Streaming Stick is our new (2025) entry-level HD streaming device. It packs the same streaming capabilities into the fan-favourite Streaming Stick design, which plugs right into your TV with a simple setup, no wall outlet required. This design is perfect for wall-mounted TVs and keeping wires out of sight. Roku Streaming Stick also includes a voice remote with TV controls, allowing you to power on your TV, adjust the volume, and control your Roku device with one remote. Use your voice to quickly search, play entertainment, and more. Both devices offer HD picture quality. If this has you interested, see our whole streaming player lineup.

HD streaming, or high-definition streaming, means watching videos in high quality with clear and detailed picture. With an HD Streaming Stick like the Roku Streaming Stick, you can enjoy your favourite shows and movies in crisp HD quality. This is a good solution if you plan to use it on an HD TV. But, if you have a 4K TV or plan to upgrade to one, check out Roku Streaming Stick Plus (4K) and Roku Streaming Stick 4K, which both offer 4K for a better picture that brings out the rich detail in your entertainment with four times the resolution of HD.
