Using the mobile private listening feature on the new Roku Streaming Stick

We know how important audio is to your entertainment experience. The environment around your TV is not always ideal for the right volume or clarity. We’ve all been there; you’re forced to turn the TV off when your roommates or family members are trying to sleep or your noisy neighbors’ party is making it nearly impossible to hear your TV audio. Enter private listening – this feature allows you to listen to your streaming audio as loud as you want, while keeping things quiet for everyone around you. It has been one of the most loved and distinctive features of the Roku 3 and Roku 4 remotes which include a headphone jack for private listening.

With the launch of the new Roku Streaming Stick (model 3600), we’re excited to bring the private listening feature to the Roku mobile app for iOS and Android. In addition to the remote control, voice search and on-screen keyboard features available on the Roku Mobile App, users of the new Roku Streaming Stick will now be able to listen to streaming entertainment through wired or wireless headphones. With a single tap, or by simply plugging in your headphones, instantly start streaming the audio through your phone or tablet.
