Roku UK: 5 tips for super streamers
We know you love your Roku player to stream your favourite films and TV, but there is so much more to explore. Here are five tips to expand your streaming horizons – go from streamer to super streamer in no time!
1. Turn your Roku player into your home’s music hub
With loads of choices available, you’re bound to find something you love in the music section of the Roku Channel Store. Whether you enjoy free internet radio, something more immersive, such as the latest music videos on VEVO, or listening to albums on-demand through Spotify, there’s something for you. You can also stream your own personal music collection from your mobile phone or tablet with the Roku mobile app through the Play On Roku feature, available on Android, iOS and Windows Phone. As well as doubling up as a second remote control, the app is a must-have for music lovers.
2. Meet your new personal fitness instructor
Struggling to fit in your workouts? Let your Roku player double up as an on-demand fitness instructor! With channels such as Daily Burn and eFit there’s always fresh exercise routines to stream at a time that suits you.
3. Mirror your tiny screen to the big screen!
Did you know that when browsing the web at home on your tiny smartphone screen, you can enhance the experience by mirroring it on your TV? The screen mirroring beta for Microsoft Windows and Android devices gives you a quick and easy way to mirror videos, apps, web sites, and more from your mobile device to a TV via your Roku 3 or Roku Streaming Stick. For more information on how to set up the screen mirroring feature and a list of supported devices click here.
4. Transform your TV into a fire place
Did you know there are a number of different screensavers available to use in your Roku player’s settings (go to Settings > Screensaver) including the option of digital and analogue clock backgrounds? There are a variety of options in the “Screensavers” section of the Roku Channel Store. The Screendream Fireplaces is my favourite – it transforms my TV into a range of roaring fire places.
5. Invite your pet to the streaming party
There’s a whole range of services on the Roku platform for pet lovers, but your furry friends will like them too! Channels such as The Animal Channel provide home tutorials with tips and advice on caring for your pet, as well as dedicated channels for keeping pets entertained.
