Roku UK: 5 streaming suggestions to ensure you hold your own at the office water cooler
Nobody likes to be the one in the office who’s out of the loop when it comes to the TV everyone’s talking about. That’s where we can help!
Here’s some essentials to stream now so you can hold your own at the water cooler…
Game of Thrones
It seems like everybody is talking about Game of Thrones at the moment. The adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, George R. R. Martin’s series of fantasy novels, is now in its fifth series, and is being shown on Sky Atlantic. The release of the fifth season earlier this month was one of the hotly anticipated TV events of 2015 so if you want to make sure you know your stuff when it comes to office conversations about dragons and giants, stream the latest series on your Roku player through the Now TV channel.
Better Call Saul
Just when you thought everybody had stopped talking about Breaking Bad there’s another series to catch-up with. Better Call Saul is a spin-off from the hugely successful series starring Bryan Cranston as Walter White, and follows the life of small-time lawyer Saul Goodman, who also appears as a character in Breaking Bad. It’s proving to be another classic so make sure you catch up from the start on Netflix.
House of Cards
If you haven’t yet been introduced to the world of Frank Underwood then you really are missing out. Set in present-day Washington, DC, the political drama stars Kevin Spacey as a Democrat party congressman and House Majority Whip who, after being passed over for appointment as Secretary of State, initiates an elaborate plan to get himself into a position of greater power, aided by his wife, Claire. This masterpiece of ruthless pragmatism, manipulation and power can be streamed on Netflix.
Poldark
This popular BBC series has just confirmed it will be returning for a second season next year. The drama, set in the 18th century, follows the life of Poldark, a British Army officer who has just returned from the American War of Independence to his beloved Cornwall. Here he finds his world in ruins; his father dead, his house wrecked and his sweetheart engaged. If you’ve been struggling to keep up you can stream episodes from series one via BBC iPlayer.
Britain’s Got Talent
Now in its ninth series, Britain’s Got Talent always gets people talking! From dancers and singers to impressionists and acrobatic dogs, make sure you’re up-to-date with the latest hopefuls looking to impress judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams on ITV Player.
