Roku Search: Now Searching Across 25+ Top Streaming Channels

We’re all big entertainment lovers here at Roku and as you can imagine, there’s a lot of talk about TV shows and movies happening around the water cooler. Lately, Fargo and Making a Murderer are taking over our conversations. Yours too, huh?

Even though our little water cooler crew is currently watching the same TV shows, we all have our streaming channel preferences. I’m a huge Hulu streamer while my co-workers with cable often stick to TV Everywhere channels such as FX NOW or HBO GO. That’s why we love Roku Search – it not only saves us time when looking for a TV show or movie to stream, but also offers comprehensive and unbiased options. Roku Search does all the work for you. It shows which of the top streaming channels offer the TV show or movie you want and lists results in order of price!

Today, we’re happy to share that Roku Search is even better and now searches across 25+ top streaming channels. These channels include Acorn TV, Amazon Video, CBS All Access, CinemaNow, Crackle, Encore Play, FOX NOW, Freeform (formerly Watch ABC Family), FX NOW, Google PlayHBO GO, Hulu, Met Opera on Demand, M-GO, Netflix, Popcornflix, Snagfilms, Starz Play, Time Warner Cable, VUDU, Watch ABC, Watch Disney Channel, Watch Disney Jr. and Watch Disney XD.

Haven’t used Roku Search before? Here’s how it works.

STEP 1:

Click “Search” from your Roku Home Screen. If you have a Roku 4 or Roku 3 (model 4230), push the voice search button on your enhanced remote control and simply speak the movie, TV show or actor/director you’re looking for! All current-generation Roku players are compatible with the Roku Mobile App for Android and iOS that provides voice search as well.

STEP 2:

As you start typing “F-A-R,” Roku Search’s predictive results will populate. Since Fargo is both a movie and TV show, you’ll see each differentiated by either a movie reel or TV icon.

STEP 3:

After you choose Fargo the TV show, your streaming channel options for each season will be listed. I watched season 1 on Hulu since I have a subscription, but if you prefer to stream on Amazon Video, Hulu, etc., all the options are shown on a single screen and are accessible with one click. Once you select your preferred channel, we will direct you to the Fargo page within the streaming channel.

In the example of Fargo the movie, see how Roku Search organizes the results by price below. The movie is FREE with a Hulu or Time Warner Cable subscription! A quick Roku search is much faster than checking each channel one by one to see where you can find it at the lowest price.
