Q&A with Isidora Goreshter, star of SHOWTIME® original series, Shameless
Sundays are for getting Shameless. Join the Gallaghers every Sunday night at 9P ET/PT for a new episode of Shameless only on SHOWTIME®. Check out our Q&A with Isidora Goreshter (Svetlana) where she shares thoughts on the latest season including how she nails a Russian accent and being a “thrupple” with Kev and V.
What can we expect on this season of the SHOWTIME original series Shameless (no spoilers!)?
You can expect more old school Gallagher shenanigans. The family is together a lot more and they feel a bit more unified than in previous seasons. Frank is and will always be Frank and will find a way to survive even the most ridiculous death defying moments.
What makes Shameless such a successful show?
I think it’s relatable. We all know a Fiona, or maybe a Frank, or a family like the Gallaghers. Or for some it’s escapism. Anyone from any demographic can find something in our show. Our fans are very diverse, which I’ve always found really special. I also think the acting is top notch. My cast-mates are incredibly gifted actors and combined with great writing you get a successful show.
What one word would you use to describe your character Svetlana?
BOSS
Svetlana must be a fun character to play! Do you think you’d love or hate her in real life?
I LOVE her. How can you hate anyone who is so unabashedly herself and honest? I may not agree with all of her motives or actions but she is a pretty incredible woman. I have the best time with her on set.
Your Russian accent is so convincing that fans are often surprised to hear your real voice. How did you get that accent down?
Well I am a first generation American and so I was raised around a lot of Russians. I really wanted to make the accent authentic and not over the top or comical. So, I worked on really listening to a lot of the people around my family and I went from there.
Is there any chance the “thrupple” with Kev and V will can remain as rosy as it seems now?
Well so far, in the beginning of this season, the “thrupple” is as good as we’ve seen it.. We haven’t finished filming all the episodes yet so I’m not too sure how we end, but it is SHAMELESS and nothing lasts forever or is as rosy as it seems on our show! So anything is possible.
