Our Top 6 of Will Smith’s Best Roles

Will Smith has been one of Hollywood’s most bankable star for almost three decades and with Bad Boys For Life coming to theatres we decided to rate some of his best roles that you can watch on your Roku streaming player or Roku TV!

1. Will Smith (The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air-Available on Netflix)

While Will Smith has won several awards and achieved massive popularity, his greatest role remains the one that started it all: Will from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.  The show about a young man from West Philadelphia, who was sent to live with his aunt and uncle in Bel-Air ran for six seasons and made Smith a household name.

2. Jay (Men in Black I, II, III-Available on Amazon Prime Video)

The Men in Black franchise was a huge success that starred Smith and is still continuing today (with the somewhat forgettable Men in Black: International). Smith’s chemistry with Tommy Lee Jones was apparent in the first film and helped make him one of Hollywood’s top stars.

3. Muhammad Ali (Ali-Available on Google Play Movies)

The role of Muhammad Ali landed Smith an Oscar nomination and it is one of the best performances in his career. The biopic covered a decade of Ali’s life during parts of his boxing career and when he refused to be drafted for the Vietnam War. The movie was a critical success but it flopped at the box office grossing just under $90 million worldwide.

4. Chris Gardner (The Pursuit of Happyness-Available on Netflix)

The Pursuit of Happyness was based on the true story of Chris Gardner; an entrepreneur who struggles to overcome his tough life circumstances while taking care of his son on his own. Smith portrays Gardner in the film as his character overcomes the loss of his wife and home to achieve hard-earned success.

The Pursuit of Happyness was also the acting debut of Smith’s son Jaden who played Gardner’s son in the film. This serious film also led to Smith’s second Oscar acting nomination.

5. Captain Steven Hiller (Independence Day-Available on Amazon Prime Video)

Independence Day was the highest grossing film for 1996 and Smith played a pivotal role in the movie as fighter pilot Steven Hiller. The movie was another milestone role for Smith helps who happens to save humanity from an alien invasion in this blockbuster.

6. Mike Lowrey (Bad Boys-Available on Google Play Movies, Bad Boys II-Available on Netflix)

The reason we are writing this blog. The 1995 film Bad Boys starred Smith (Along with Martin Lawrence) as Mike Lowrey, a wealthy Miami PD detective who also happens to be a ladies man. The first film did very well at the box office but the second film didn’t do nearly as well. Let’s hope that the third incarnation of the series, Bad Boys For Life, is as good as the first.
