New Releases and Recommendations for Sept. 16
It’s Friday—time to kick your feet up, relax in front of your favorite streaming player (hint- it’s totally us) and start your weekend off right! Here are some new movies, shows and fall premieres to help make the most of your weekend. As always, if you have a suggestion on the perfect lazy Sunday flick, please post ’em in the comments.



Netflix New Releases:
- Vanishing of the Bees – This documentary details the economic, political and ecological consequences of a dwindling world honeybee population (2009)
- The Expendables– Action greats Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li and Dolph Lundgren are just the tip of the butt-kicking iceberg (2010)
- Weird Science– John Hughes helms this classic 1980’s teen comedy that co-stars Kelly LeBrock, Bill Paxton, Robert Rusler and Robert Downey Jr. (1985)
Hulu Plus Fall Premieres:
- New Girl– Zooey Deschanel has moved in with three dudes who find her moribund depression sort of charming and try to lasso her a social life (2011)
- Parenthood– Peter Krause and Lauren Graham are back to out act all of television as they raise fine, upstanding young citizens…sort of (2011)
- Free Agents– Hank Azaria and Kathryn Hahn’s characters try to figure out who the hell they are after a divorce and a fiance’s death, respectively (2011)
Crackle New Releases:
- Rudy– Sean Astin stars in this underdog sports movie that joins the classic ranks of The Natural and Hoosiers (1993)
- Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein– In this suspenseful horror tale, film legend Robert DeNiro brings a frightening realism to his portrayal of the tragic Creature created, then abandoned, by Victor Frankenstein (1994)
- Kabluey– Subtly subversive actress Lisa Kudrow leads a quirky indie comedy that blows the genre out of its recent clichéd doldrums (2008)
Amazon Instant Video New Releases:
- Thor– Another great addition to the Marvel pantheon, The Mighty Thor, a powerful warrior reignites an ancient war (2011)
- X-men: First Class– Following the classic Marvel mythology, X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga (2011)
- Hesher– A comedic, dark fairy tale about an eccentric, unhinged drifter who appears out of nowhere to help a struggling family deal with loss in the most unconventional of ways (2011)
