Today we’re rolling out our biggest update in more than a decade, shaped by deep behavioral insights and what we’ve heard directly from customers. The new Roku Home Screen, soon reaching over 100 million streaming households, is more personal and streamlined. Think of it as your entertainment guide — always helpful, fast, and surprisingly good at knowing what you’re in the mood for.

Your go‑to apps, front and center

Whether you’re a nightly reality TV watcher, a weekend sports streamer, or someone who opens the same three apps every day, we all have our habits. Quick Access is built around them, automatically surfacing your most-used apps and shortcuts, so you can jump right in without scrolling.

Powered by AI, Quick Access continually adapts to your routine and helps you get to your favorites faster. We’re confident it’ll pick up on the apps you use most, but if you’d rather take control, you can add or remove any app you’d like. And when you’re looking for the rest of your apps, they’re still right where you left them, just a few clicks away.

Top Picks for You

A personalized row that actually feels personal

At the top of your Home Screen, you’ll now see an expanded content-first section that’s uniquely yours. Top Picks for You makes recommendations that feel relevant — you’ll see what you love to watch, what’s trending on Roku, and the biggest entertainment of the moment. And no two people will see the same mix. Your picks are shaped around you and what we think you’ll be interested in.

You’ll also see more programming options upfront, so you can jump into more shows across more genres without digging through apps. And if you want to explore further, the new For You destination is built on your interests and filled with fresh personalized picks to dive into. It’s a simple, intuitive way to find something great to watch.

Destinations

Genre and mood hubs that make browsing fun again

Sometimes you know exactly what you want to watch. Other times, you just know you’re in the mood to laugh or cry. That’s where Destinations come in.

These curated hubs span genres and moods like comedy, movies, sports, and more, and sit alongside Roku’s other popular destinations — like Subscriptions, which helps you get more out of the apps you’re subscribed to by recommending movies and shows from all of your subscriptions in one place. Each destination brings together content from across the platform for easy discovery and streaming.

Search will be available across all of Roku’s core destinations, adapting to where you’re browsing. In Sports, you’ll see sports-specific suggestions; in Free, you’ll get free content — so finding what you’re looking for is seamless.

An hourly guide to the cultural zeitgeist

Come see what everyone’s talking about. Your Daily Scoop is a dedicated, real-time row in the For You destination, powered by AI, that brings you a curated digest of breakout shows and cultural trends. Whether it’s a massive premiere, a celebrity birthday, or that viral moment everyone is talking about, The Daily Scoop helps you discover relevant content tied to each theme.

By clicking into the Topic Card created for each moment, you can dive into a dedicated destination of shows and movies tied to that subject, making this the easiest way to stay current and find what’s worth watching this very second.

We streamlined the Roku Home Screen Menu so it stays tucked away until you need it. With a quick click, you can jump into Destinations, Inputs, Search, Settings, and more. In Settings, you can further personalize your experience.

Your favorites, right at your fingertips

Shortcuts keep everyday features within easy reach, so you can settle in and start watching right from your Home Screen. Features like Continue Watching, Sleep Timer, Save List, and more are now right where you expect them. Even better, your most frequently used shortcuts will now show up in Quick Access as well.

Roku City Tile

Jump into Roku City immediately

Ever wanted to take a ride around Roku City? Now you can, with a new Home Screen tile that takes you to an interactive version of your favorite screensaver. Jump in and explore the iconic cityscape and all the great entertainment on the Roku platform, plus Daily Trivia, the retro game Roku City Dash, Roklue, and more.

Rolling Out Now

The new Roku Home Screen builds on the experience you already know, with a more personal, more intuitive design that works better from the moment you turn it on.

Starting today, the new Home Screen will begin rolling out to Roku TVs and streaming devices across the U.S., with more countries to follow. The update will arrive automatically, so you can start exploring as soon as it reaches your device.
