Why it made our list: The age-old “Monsters under the bed” fable comes to life in this fun flick for the whole family.

Return of the Living Dead (1985)

When two bumbling employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to rise again as zombies.

Why it made our list: This classic 80s flick withstands the test of time. With nearly as many laughs as there are frights, Return of the Living Dead deserves a spot on your Halloween watch list.

When a Stranger Calls (2006)

During a babysitting gig, a high-school student (Camilla Belle) is harassed by an increasingly threatening prank caller.

Why it made our list: This remake of the 1979 horror classic will certainly make you think twice before answering the phone from an unknown caller.
