8 movies to watch completely free of charge [12/12/17]
Every week, we put together a list of free movies to watch on The Roku Channel. This week, we’ve highlighted a Julia Roberts (did you see where she landed on our list of 2017 top-searched actreeses?) film based off a bestselling book, a hilarious movie with a before-he-was-super-famous Kevin Hart, and one of the best romantic comedies of the 1990s.

– Eat Pray Love (2010): A woman realizes how unhappy her marriage really is, and that her life needs to go in a different direction. After a painful divorce, she takes off on a round-the-world journey to “find herself”. Starring Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem.
Why it made our list: The scenery alone as Liz (Roberts) travels the world is worth a watch – and the scenes in Paris will leave you craving Italian food!
– Soul Plane (2004): Things get raucously funny aboard the maiden flight of a black-owned airline, thanks to some last-minute passenger additions. Starring Snoop Dogg and Kevin Hart.

– The Thomas Crown Affair (1999): A very rich and successful playboy amuses himself by stealing artwork, but may have met his match in a seductive detective. starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.
Why it made our list: In the remake of the 1968 film starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, Brosnan and Russo do not disappoint.
– Windtalkers (2002): Two U.S. Marines in World War II are assigned to protect Navajo Marines, who use their native language as an unbreakable radio cypher. Starring Nicolas Cage and Adam Beach.
Why it made our list: The storyline inspired by true events will leave you yearning to learn more about the Navajo Code Talkers.
– A Most Wanted Man (2014): A Chechen Muslim illegally immigrates to Hamburg, where he gets caught in the international war on terror. Starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Rachel McAdams.
Why it made our list: This “Certified Fresh” (Rotten Tomatoes) spy film doesn’t come with the gunshots or explosions like a Bond or Bourne flick, but it will leave your mind spinning.

– Soul Surfer (2011, PG): Teenage surfer Bethany Hamilton overcomes the odds and her own fears of returning to the water after losing her left arm in a shark attack. Starring Annasophia Robb, Dennis Quaid, and Carrie Underwood.
Why it made our list: This inspirational true story of an up and coming surfing star will leave you believing that you can overcome anything with enough perseverance.
– Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994): Over the course of five social occasions, a committed bachelor must consider the notion that he may have discovered love. Starring Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell.
Why it made our list: This fun and easy to watch movie is regarded as one of the best rom-coms of the 90s.
