5 Roku features you should be using today!

We want to help you get the most out of your Roku streaming player by sharing our favourite features. These 5 Roku features make your TV streaming experience even better!

What’s your favourite Roku feature?

1. Private listening
Have you ever cut a binge-watching session short because you didn’t want to disturb someone sleeping nearby? Do your kids have Peppa Pig on an endless loop, and you’d prefer not to hear it anymore? Meet private listening – this feature allows you to turn up the volume as loud as you want, while keeping things quiet for everyone around you. Private listening is available via the Roku mobile app for iOS® and Android™.

2. Voice Search
You are probably very familiar with Roku Search, enabling you to search for actors, directors movies and TV shows across popular channels. Wouldn’t it be great if you you could use your voice instead of your hands to find new entertainment to watch?

Good news: voice search is available on all Roku players through the Roku mobile app and is also available on the remote control of the Roku Streaming Stick+.

3. Create a screensaver for your TV using pictures from your mobile device
In addition to the collection of screensavers in the Roku Channel Store and in your device’s settings (go to Settings > Screensaver), did you know you can create a screensaver for your TV using the pictures stored on your mobile device? This feature only works with 4K capable streaming players though.

To utilise this feature, open the Roku mobile app for iOS or Android, tap Photos+ > Screensaver. Select up to 25 images, set the style (HQ Still or Pan and Zoom), and the speed (15, 20, or 30 seconds), click Set Screensaver. Done!

4. Save time with the mobile app keyboard
If you’ve made it this far into the post, you’ve probably realised that downloading the Roku mobile app is a must! It’s full of great features, including a handy keyboard that you can select from the Remote tab in the app. The keyboard in the mobile app will save you time when you need to enter a long email address or movie title.

5. Take your Roku streaming player with you on a trip
Are you preparing travel plans? With our Hotel & Dorm Connect feature, it’s easy to take your Roku player on the road (don’t forget your remote and power adapter!). Connecting to a public network like one found in a hotel often requires signing-in through a web browser, and Hotel & Dorm Connect helps you do that easily. Learn more here.

Happy Streaming!
