3 lessons to learn from victims in horror movies

“No! What are you doing!? DO NOT run up the stairs. Ugh, now you’re dead.”

While watching a horror movie you’ve likely screamed the phrases above or been frustrated by the not-so-smart decisions made by the soon-to-be victims. But hey, I guess the movies would be pretty anti-climactic if the victims just headed for the front door and called the cops.

With the spooky Halloween season upon us, here are three lessons we can all learn from horror movie victims…

1. STAY AWAY FROM THE WOODS

The woods are a beautiful place to live, but it’s where crazy people go to lose their minds. Serial killers love the woods and know them inside and out. The second you run into the dark woods or a creepy hedge maze as in The Shining, you’re in their territory – so stay in the house or your hotel room and lock the doors!

2. DON’T RUN UP THE STAIRS

The only chance to safety from the second floor is jumping from a window. No one remains unscathed from a 12-foot jump. Plus there’s definitely no way you’ll be outrunning that surprisingly fast-walking serial killer with a bum leg.

Worst offender: Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (Available on Amazon Video, CinemaNow, FandangoNow, Google Play and VUDU)

3. STICK WITH A BUDDY

If there’s a serial killer on the loose, never stay home alone. The buddy system is essential so someone can call the cops while the other person runs through the woods or up the stairs and inevitably gets killed. Always be the smart “call the cops” buddy who charges their mobile phone.

Worst offender: Casey in Scream (Available on Amazon Video, CinemaNow, FandangoNow, HBO NOW, VUDU and VidAngel)
