Our Roku app for iOS® and Android™ devices lets you display an instant slide show with all your favourite mug shots. Put a song to it – or an entire album. It just takes a tap.

The smallest footprint

Barely larger than a beermat, Roku is the smallest streaming player ever – perfect for slipping neatly alongside any TV or entertainment centre. It also has a tiny energy footprint, using less than 2 Watts when you're watching a movie. That's less power than a night light, 15 times less than a DVR and 60 times less than popular games consoles.

It's ridiculously easy

From the simple, intuitive remote to the easy-to-use interface, Roku makes streaming simple for everyone. All you need to get started is a high-speed Internet connection (and a TV, of course). The built-in wireless and guided setup means you can be up and running in minutes: you don't need to be a nerd!

You need a high-speed Internet connection with a speed of at least 1.2 Mbps (such as mid-level Broadband). Questions

  • What is a Roku streaming player? How does it work?
Roku is a small device that streams films, TV programmes, music, and other entertainment to your TV via the Internet. Since Roku streams (rather than downloads) video, you get instant access to a huge library of entertainment without having to store any video files on your computer or hard drive.

Once you set up Roku, you do not need a PC to use it. Roku connects directly to your TV and your high-speed Internet service home using your wireless home network. It then lets you access the streaming entertainment channels that you sign up for (like Netflix or NOW TV) right from your TV, using a handy remote.

  • What can I watch on Roku? Are there monthly fees?
Roku brings a large selection of internet streaming entertainment to your TV including films, catch-up TV, news, sports and games. All of the channels are available for you to browse and select in the Roku Channel Store, which you can access from your TV screen.

Many channels on Roku are completely free. Crackle, for example, is a movie channel that features hundreds of free Hollywood movies on demand. You'll find hundreds of others, covering virtually every category and genre.

A few popular channels, like NOW TV and Netflix, require that you have a monthly subscription with those services. For example, a NOW TV streaming subscription that provides access to a film library requires a monthly fee. Roku simply gives you access to that subscription on TV. We do not charge any additional fees to watch subscription-based channels like NOW TV or Netflix.

  • What do I need to set Roku up?
Roku uses the Internet to deliver streaming entertainment to your TV, so you'll need high-speed Internet service for the best experience. To see what your network speed is at home, go to http://www.speedtest.net on your computer and hit the "Begin Test" button—a quick test will run that measures your download speed in "Mbps" (megabits per second). Generally we recommend a network speed of at least 1.2 Mbps, but to view live events, like Major League Baseball games, you'll want at least 3 Mbps. For HD viewing, we recommend 5 Mbps.

Most of our customers connect their Roku players to a wireless network at home, using a wireless router. Simple instructions on-screen guide you through the one-time setup process. You can also connect models with an Ethernet port to your router using an Ethernet cable.

The cable you need to connect Roku to most television sets is included in the box. However, if you want to watch in high-definition, you'll need an HDMI cable.

  • What channels are currently available?

Roku offers over 300 channels in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, and is constantly adding new channels to entertain and delight you. Our current channel partners include:

    • Films and TV programmes: NOW TV*, Netflix, and Crackle*
    • Sports: Sky Sports*, UFC, and MLB
    • Photos and videos: Facebook, Flickr, and Vimeo
    • Music: Spotify, Rdio, TuneIn, and VEVO
    • Games: Angry Birds and You Don't Know Jack
    plus many more!

We are constantly working hard to bring you more new channels - stay tuned for exciting announcements!

    * NOW TV, Sky Sports, and Crackle only available in the UK at this time.

  • Can I find Roku in a local retail store?
Yes, Roku players are available at local retailers in the United Kingdom and Ireland. See retail stores
