Where can I use the Netflix Player?
Once activated, the Netflix Player can be used to watch movies and TV episodes from anywhere in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia. Some of our customers even take them on vacation. Unfortunately, at this time, it is not for use outside the 50 US states, in US territories and military bases overseas, or foreign countries.

How many players can I use?
You can activate 4 players on any Netflix account with unlimited DVDs. Unlimited refers to the number of DVDs you can receive in a month. Most Netflix plans are unlimited.
However Netflix restricts the number of movies or TV shows that can be simultaneously played. The 1 at-a-time plan allows 1 stream to be played at a time. The 2 at-a-time plan allows 2 streams to be played simultaneously. The 3 at-a-time plan allows 3 streams to be played simultaneously. All other unlimited plans can play up to 4 movies or TV shows simultaneously.

How does the player work?

Yes, the Netflix Player by Roku remembers where you stopped the movie or TV episode and will pick up at that point the next time you begin watching it. You can also choose to re-start from the beginning by choosing "Play from Beginning" on the player, or by rewinding.

The included remote lets you control your Netflix player using standard up/down/left/right navigation. It also includes fast-forward, rewind, and play/pause buttons to give you full control over your playback experience. The Netflix Player by Roku must be connected to the Internet to watch a movie. The Player, however, does not have to be connected to the Internet all the time.

Does the Netflix Player by Roku download movies?
No, the Netflix Player by Roku does not download movies. Instead, it shows the list of movies you've added to your Instant Queue. When you choose to watch one, the Player streams the movie over the Internet, generally starting playback in 30 seconds or less.
You can add up to 500 movies to your Instant Queue, and can update that list and its order at any time by visiting Netflix.com.

What is the audio and video format of the movies and shows?
The Netflix Player by Roku plays Windows Media formatted files from Netflix content servers.

Can I copy movies from the Netflix Player by Roku to another device?
Netflix Movies can be watched on your PC on the Netflix site, on your TV via the Netflix Player by Roku and on other supported platforms. Movies cannot be copied or transferred to other devices.

Are there Parental controls on the Netflix Player by Roku?
At this time, the Netflix Player by Roku does not support managing ratings limits directly on your TV.
The Netflix Player by Roku only lists and plays titles that you have added to your Instant Queue. To enforce limits, make sure your Instant Queue only contains titles you feel are acceptable for watching on your TV. Removing titles from the Instant Queue on the Netflix Website will remove them from the Instant Queue on your TV as well.

In order to use The Netflix Player, you need an active Netflix account, a high-speed Internet connection (minimum 1.5 Mbps), a home network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and a TV.

What kind of broadband Internet connection do I need?
You need at least 1.5 Mbps to watch movies instantly on The Netflix Player by Roku. The faster your connection, the better the quality. For high quality video and audio, a connection of least 4.0 Mbps is recommended. You can test your bandwidth at one of these sites:

How does The Netflix Player connect to the Internet?
The Netflix Player connects to the Internet through your home network using either a wireless connection or, if you prefer, an Ethernet cable. For wireless connections, The Netflix Player follows the Wi-Fi standard and is compatible with 802.11b and 802.11g networks - the most common Wi-Fi networks. It also supports wireless security, including WEP, WPA and WPA2.

The Netflix Player works with common Wi-Fi routers and access points using the 802.11b and/or 802.11g standards. The Netflix Player by Roku supports WEP, WPA and WPA2 security methods. It does not support Radius security. Check out the Quick Start Guide for more info.

Roku uses FedEx to ship the Netflix Player. We offer two shipping options: FedEx Ground and FedEx 2-Day.
FedEx Ground takes about a week. FedEx 2-Day takes 2 business days and is delivered Monday thru Friday.
Typically orders received early in the business day are shipped on the same day and orders received later in the business day are shipped the following business day.
